Borrowing Guide

E-Books and Articles in the Library Catalog

The library provides access to a variety of electronic resources. To access e-books and database articles, you can filter for full-text availability, peer review status, and type of resource, among others. These resources do not need to be checked out physically and can be viewed online, downloaded to your device (either full-text or with chapter limitations), or e-mailed to you.

E-Books and E-Audiobooks Through Libby

The library also provides access to e-books and e-audiobooks through Libby, which can be downloaded through your phone's app store. Once you've created an account with Libby, select Virginia Community College System as your library. Instead of a library card number, you will need to authenticate using your VCCS login information just as you would to use any other VPCC resources. You can also access Libby from a desktop computer and will need to use the same login as you would using the app.

If an item is checked out and currently unavailable, you have the option to place a hold on it and will receive a notification when it is ready for you to check out. Materials checked out through Libby will disappear from your account on the due date if you do not return them early, so no need to remember to return them by the due date!
