Community Members

  • Members of the local community who are not affiliated with the College can apply for a community library card if they reside in Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg, James City County, or York County and are eighteen years or older. A valid photo ID and proof of local address are required. Active military may show military ID and proof of local address. Community members may have three total items checked out for a total of four weeks and are eligible for one renewal if the account is in good standing and there is not a request for the item.

VIVA and VTC Members

  • Students, faculty, and staff whose institutions participate in the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA) or the Virginia Tidewater Consortium (VTC) may also borrow items from the library and will need to show proof of enrollment or employment at the institution. Those who are eligible for VIVA or VTC membership do not need to reside in the College's service area. VIVA and VTC borrowers may have three total items checked out for a total of four weeks and are eligible for one renewal if the account is in good standing and there is not a request for the item.
