Vickie Herzog (she/her)
Vickie works as a Full-Time Math Tutor at VPCC. Before working as a full-time math tutor, she got an A.A. Liberal Arts from VPCC and BTh from Andersonville Baptist Seminary. Vickie grew up in Hawaii and Guam (meaning she is still most comfortable in flipflops), enjoyed playing guitar and piano at churches and weddings before her elbow surgery, and wanted to be a kindergarten teacher before finding her true calling teaching math.
Liz Rizzatto (she/her)
Liz works as a Math Tutor and Tutoring Coordinator. Before working here, she obtained an Associate of Science from VPCC and a B.S. in Mathematics from Christopher Newport University. Liz is a mom to two kids (an 18-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son), loves the beach (and nature in general), and enjoys playing Stardew Valley in her free time.
Brianna Sage (she/her)
Brianna works as a Full-Time Writing Tutor. Before working at VPCC, she obtained a B.A. with a concentration in British Literature from James Madison University, as well as an M.A. in English. Brianna loves watching horror movies in her spare time, hates wintertime and autumn, and her father claims that she was abducted by aliens when she was 3 (these claims, however, are dubious, so take them with a grain of salt).
Julie Fucarino (she/her)
Julie works as a Part-Time Math Tutor. Before working at VPCC, she obtained a B.A. in Mathematics with a minor in statistics from Wellesley College. Julie has an identical twin, once memorized 211 digits of pi, and adores capybaras.
Jacob Daniels (he/him)
Jacob is currently majoring in Engineering. He tutors CHM 101, CHM 111, PHY (201 and 241), MTH (161,162,167, 261, 263, 264), and MDE (60 and 61). Jacob has an Belgian Malinois named Griffon, likes learning to play different instruments, and enjoys learning about linguistics.
Nathaniel Richey (he/him)
Nathaniel is currently obtaining an Associate of Science. He tutors MTH 161, MDE 60 & 10, HIST (102, 111,112,121,122), PSY 200, and CHM 101 & 111. Nathaniel is also left-handed, has a cat named Mai, and hopes to transfer to ODU to pursue a degree in biochemistry.
Mel Wrona (she/her)
Mel is a Business Administration major. She currently tutors MTH 154, MTH 155, and ECO 201. She is currently a VPCC Presidential Ambassador, has been a dancer for 21 years, and enjoys weightlifting, barre, and Pilates in her free time.
Izzy Davis (she/her)
Izzy tutored MDE 10/60, Pre-calc 1 and 2, and Calc 1, and obtained an Associate of Science in Mathematics in Fall 2024. Her cat Gilbert is her ride or die, she is a big Legend of Zelda fan, and Chili's is her favorite restaurant. She currently attends Christopher Newport University and is working on her Bachelors degree in Mathematics.
Shawn Gaballa (he/him)
Shawn majored in Civil Engineering at VPCC. He tutored Chemistry courses up to Organic Chemistry 2 and all Math courses up to Calc 2. Shawn plans to apply for medical school, his favorite subject is calculus, and he lived in Kuwait for 3 years. He is currently attending ODU.
Rebekah McCall (she/her)
Rebekah was a nursing major who tutored A&P and nursing fundamentals/dosage calculations from summer 2023 to spring 2024. She served in the National Guard as a combat medic, hates running, and enjoys Starbucks' caramel crunch frappes with extra caramel. She now works as an R.N., specializing in women and infant care.
Gabriel Vega (he/him)
Gabriel Vega was a Computer Science major who attained his associate’s degree at VPCC. He tutored C++, mathematics up to Calculus 2, and Chemistry to General Chemistry 2 from spring 2024 to fall 2024. He has been to 3-4 continents (depending on what map you use), has a black belt in taekwondo, and adores sushi. Gabriel is now pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science at ODU.
