Art UKThe Public Catalogue Foundation (PCF), a registered charity in the UK, has the objective of opening up that nation’s public art collections for enjoyment, learning, and research. Its flagship project over the last ten years involved making a photographic record of the UK’s entire collection of oil, acrylic, and tempera paintings that are in public ownership. More than 210,000 paintings—the works of 37,000 artists—can be viewed on this website. It should be emphasized that the paintings themselves are by artists of many nationalities; the main criterion for inclusion is that the painting must be in a public collection in the United Kingdom.
